GOODMAN MAIN STOPPER MFG. CO., INC.
THE GOODMAN-PEDEN STOPPER

In the GOODMAN-PEDEN STOPPER the flexible frame, padding, covering and diaphragm of the Goodman Stopper remain in principle, but the handles have been discarded. In their stead, a new arrangement in construction makes it possible to operate the Stopper mechanically, rather than by the experience and skill of the workman. Made in standard sizes. Special sizes to order.
HOW TO USE THE GOODMAN-PEDEN STOPPER
When you first use the Stopper, practice with an empty pipe. Insert the Stopper in the main through a tap hole in the usual manner. The supporting arm follows into the hole. Clamp the top wall of the pipe between the lugs and make rigid and firm by tightening set screws.
In the smaller sizes (up to 10") pull the cable handle tight, thus causing the Stopper to move upward and forward, the top part sliding along the surface of the upper part of the pipe; at the same time the Stopper is expanding into shape and stopping the flow in the pipe. Tighten set screw against the cable or drum, thus locking the Stopper in place.
On sizes 12" and over, wind up the cable by using the crank handle; tighten set screw against drum.
TO REMOVE STOPPER
Release cable at set screw, also release Stopper at set screw at tap hole. Then place lower part of bottom lug on the top of the pipe and push forward on the supporting arm, using it as a lever. This will release the Stopper in the pipe and it may be withdrawn in the usual manner.
After using, the Stopper should be wiped clean. Store in a cool place. Wrap in an air-tight cover.
